The sound of sirens....

Woke up to a very weird sound this morning. Fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars. No, they were not at my house, but as one doesn't hear this much out in the country, I was a bit surprised. As it turns out it appears as though there was a fire at farm (or farmhouse) about a block away from me (I could see the trucks parked out my back window).

I took the opportunity of my being awake to prepare for work, and was just about to leave my driveway, when I was nearly hit by a Cadillac doing about 90 down my street with a 'Farmer's Insurance - Claims Adjuster' branding on the side. They certainly do move fast.

Weekend News

Friday, stuck around home and relaxed. Made a quick trip to Gags and Gifts for Brandy to help her with the wedding while she was at the rehearsal dinner.

Saturday, slept in (Yay!) and went to the Movies with Andy and his little sister Niki. Sushi was consumed later, followed by video games that evening.

Sunday, slept in (Yay Yay!) and went to lunch with Brandy, Barb and Sophie, followed by movie (with Andy and Troy as well), then to Target and Toys 'R' Us. Dinner and movies at the Lowe homestead followed (Hungry Howies, and 'National Treasure'). Brandy put Sophie and then herself to bed, and then Barb and I watched an X-Men cartoon DVD.

I got to flirt with Barb all day, and it really made me happy when she would smile. She has a gorgeous smile and an infectious laugh. She heads back to TC today, and I miss her already.

Just be yourself...

I feel that this may be a mantra I need to work into my daily routine.

I had my first date with Barb last night, and it was a truly wonderful time. I showed up early, (my one weakness) and waited on the porch while Brandy finished helping Barb get ready. The wait was well worth it because Barb suprised me by even more beautiful than ever.

I managed to loosen up a little bit on the drive to the restaurant, but I found myself getting shy again after we were seated. Dinner at Bravo was nice, though the food left a little to be desired (but the salad was as good as ever). The restaurant was a little more noisy than usual, but we still managed to have some excellent conversation once I loosened up a bit.

We went to the movies after dinner and saw "The Interpreter". Not the best movie, but we had a great time making fun of Sean Penn and Nichole Kidman. There were some great "Hey ... It's that guy/girl" moments", but we mostly just made jokes.

I made a CD for the drive, of music that makes me think about her. Songs that I can latch on to and make me smile.

I dropped her off just after Midnight and got a hug that I wish could have lasted forever. Barb is a very special girl, and I hope that we have the opportunity to go on many more wonderful dates like this. Though next time, I will book earlier dinner reservations (or we can hit Panchero's), and bring an ample supply of Milk Duds and Hot Wheels.

If you aren't careful...

Well ... I don't care. I know my face could get stuck, but I can't stop smiling. What a difference a positive spin can put on your perspective huh?

Currently Enjoying "Sleep Walk - Santo and Johnny" c/o the "Hearts in Atlantis Soundtrack"

How am I feeling?

I have been better, but if the rest of the week goes as planned, then I do imagine feeling much better!

The feeling of understanding is very rare
For someone like me it's hard to find
Somebody to care
She's got a way about her
Changes everything
She's got a way about her...

The Good Life

When I look in the mirror, I can't believe what I see
Tell me, who's that funky dude, staring back at me?
Broken, beaten down can't even get around
Without an old-man cane, I fall and hit the ground
Shivering in the cold, I'm bitter and alone

Excuse the bitchin', I shouldn't complain
I should have no feeling, 'cuz feeling is pain
As everything I need, is denied me
And everything i want, is taken away from me
But who do I got to blame? Nobody but me

…And I don't wanna be an old man anymore
It's been a year or two since I was out on the floor
Shakin' booty, makin' sweet love all the night
It's time I got back to the Good Life
It's time i got back, it's time i got back
And I don't even know how I got off the track
I wanna go back…Yeah!

Screw this crap, I've had it! I ain't no Mr. Cool
I'm a pig, I'm a dog, so 'scuse me if I drool
I ain't gonna hurt nobody, ain't gonna 'cause a scene
I just need to admit that I want sugar in my tea
Hear me? Hear me? I want sugar in my tea!

I want to go back, I want to go back
And I don't even know how I got off the track
It's time i got back, it's time i got back
And I don't even know how I got off the track
I want to go back…Yeah!

Katamari don't fail me now

Though I haven't been following E3 very steadily or anything, I did come across "A Gamers' Manifesto" linked on kottke today.

One of the best quotes of the entire article, "The first time we hear the word "patch" in relation to a PS3 or XBox 360 game, we're taking the console back to the store. Filled with our shit."

Take a look.
